Sugar Industry Programme now open for applications

Applications for the 2023/24 Sugar Industry Programme are open from 7th August – 25th September. 

WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE BRITISH BEET SUGAR INDUSTRY?

We are delighted to launch the 12th Sugar Industry Programme for 2023/24.

The Sugar Industry Programme is jointly funded by NFU Sugar and British Sugar and provides a fantastic opportunity for any grower or industry professional who wishes to learn more about the British beet sugar industry and develop their professional skills.

The programme provides the participants with a 360-degree view of the industry, making it a fantastic opportunity for growers working or returning to a beet growing businesses, alongside industry professionals that have an interest in the sugar beet industry.

From seed breeding to parliamentary lobbying within Westminster, the programme highlights all parts of the supply chain - from production to regulation. Participants will also gain the opportunity to meet with Members of Parliament to discuss the industry and gain insight from seed breeders, alongside visits to British Sugar’s Wissington Factory, BBRO, Germains Seed Technology and NFU Conference.

Participants will also have the opportunity to build their professional skills through a number of training and development sessions, including:

  • media training
  • social media training
  • presentation training

17th - 19th January 2024

Westminster visit - London

Day 1 - Political introduction, Parliamentary reception, dinner & overnight stay

Day 2 - House of Commons tour

5th - 6th February 2024

NFU Conference - Birmingham

Day 1 - Conference, dinner & overnight stay

Day 2 - Conference

20th - 21st February 2024

Closing event - NFU HQ, Stoneleigh

Day 1 - Presentation training, dinner & overnight stay

4th - 5th March 2024

Applicants are invited to submit their CV alongside a covering letter outlining their experience within the sector and why they are interested in taking part in the programme to sam.williamson@nfu.org.uk.

Applications close on 25th September 2023.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as spaces are limited.

The programme is jointly funded by NFU Sugar and British Sugar. Please note that the schedule is subject to change. If you are accepted on to the programme you are expected to attend every event.
