British Sugar, the leading supplier of sugar to the UK food and drink industry, is proud to announce that Histogram was the winner of the 2006 Beverages award at this year’s Food Manufacture Excellence Awards. Four companies – Aimia Foods, Histogram, Innocent Drinks and The Serious Food Company – were short-listed for the British Sugar-sponsored Beverages category, but it was Histogram who impressed the judges the most.
Each entry had to meet at least three out of the following six criteria which were judged by an independent panel. The criteria were:
1. Supply Chain Improvement
2. Quality Assurance and Food Safety
3. Process Innovation
4. Environmental Management Waste Minimisation
5. Human Resource Development
6. New Product Development and Marketing
Steve Coldrick, Business Manager and Head of Drinks sector at British Sugar was on hand to present the Beverage award to Norman Lovell, General Manager at Histogram at a glittering awards dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Tuesday 31st October. According to Steve, “British Sugar sponsored this category to recognise excellence and also encourage all of the competing companies to continue to raise their standards as it is vital to the future of the food manufacturing industry.”
According to the judges, “Histogram's complete refurbishment of the company’s manufacturing facility significantly increased capacity and flexibility has risen three-fold. We were particularly impressed with the training work the company had done, with its skills gap initiative, and the issuing of personal development plans for all members of staff.”
“British Sugar congratulates Histogram, especially on the remarkable effort the company has made to improve the efficiency of their processes across the board,” Steve adds.
