Bury St Edmunds Factory operates with a dedicated improvement team that focuses on identifying and delivering sustainable improvements in operational performance and product quality. Following a recent move within the Improvement Team an exciting opportunity now exists for a Continuous Improvement Engineer. This demanding position will be at the forefront of Bury’s strategy to accelerate the site’s improvement momentum. Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Improvement Engineer will be responsible for:-
The key tasks will be to:
- Tackle high value problems and deliver sustainable solutions, in-particular in the areas of energy and process efficiency.
- Develop business cases and improvement applications from conception through to final delivery and acceptance.
- Lead improvement activities and develop problem solving techniques across site.
- Provide technical support across the Area Manager and Team Leader group to ensure the factory exceeds financial and technical budgets during operational periods.
- Use experience and judgement to be a part of technical discussions and demonstrate a co-ordinated approach to ensure optimum decisions are taken.

Develop new tools to model and track factory performance.

Be of graduate calibre with a chemical or mechanical engineering degree.

Have at least three years experience in a process operations environment.

Be a passionate operations individual with genuine drive for improvement.

Have experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as the Hagen Continuous Improvement Cycle, lean or six sigma techniques.

Have the ability to conceptualise new ideas and lead best practice.

Be a problem solver with strong analytical skills and the ability to operate within a multi-discipline team.
