Sugar factories gear up for another harvest

British Sugar and the National Farmer's Union (NFU) have agreed the factory opening dates for the coming 'campaign'.

Wissington factory will open on 15 September 2004 with the remaining five factories (Allscott, Bury St Edmunds, Cantley, Newark and York) opening on 22 September.

Commenting on the announcement, British Sugar's manufacturing director, Karl Carter said, "British Sugar and the NFU wanted to give growers and hauliers as much notice as possible, to give them the opportunity to plan their harvest."
