TV Chef uses homegrown sugar for his Great British Menu

A new series of the Great British Menu begins on Monday and the programme will feature homegrown sugar from British Sugar’s Bury St Edmunds factory.

Every week a new pairing of chefs, representing one of eight British regions, will take to the Great British Menu kitchen. The chefs will create a starter, a fish course, a main course and a dessert using the best ingredients from their local area.

One of the chefs from the "central region" is Daniel Clifford, from Midsummer House in Cambridge. He will be using homegrown sugar in his dessert. The programme includes a feature on the ingredients for each of the dishes and Daniel visited British Sugar’s Bury St Edmunds factory with a film crew, to record interviews for the show.

The central region competition will commence next week, and the feature on British homegrown sugar will air on Thursday 2 April at 6.30 pm on BBC2.
