British Sugar Revises East Anglian Sugar Beet Campaign Start Dates
Reflecting the extended cereals harvest caused by the wet weather British Sugar has revised the start dates for the 2008 / 09 sugar beet harvesting campaign.
East Anglian factories will commence accepting loads as follows:
Wissington
Monday 22nd September
Bury St. Edmunds
and Cantley Thursday 2nd October
Newark factory will commence accepting loads on Wednesday 17th September
Commenting on the announcement, Colm McKay Head of Agriculture said, “With the wet summer causing problems for many farmers we have taken the decision to delay the start of the beet campaign and ease the pressure on our growers’ current workload.”
