New Classic Golden Syrup – no added flavours for a ‘clean label’
British Sugar, the UK’s leading supplier of sugar, has expanded its liquid sugar range with the addition of Classic Golden Syrup, a new premium syrup created specifically for the bakery and confectionery markets.
Ian Hollyman, British Sugar’s Product Manager for Blends, said: “In response to the growing needs of our customers for ‘clean label’ products, British Sugar has developed Classic, a new and improved Golden Syrup. It still provides the same benefits and taste as our standard Golden Syrup, but is free from artificial colours and flavours."
Classic Golden Syrup is a high-quality, partially-inverted syrup with no added flavours or colourants. It has a buttery flavour and golden colour that is ideal for creating cakes, biscuits, puddings, toffee, ice-cream and preserves.
Developed by British Sugar’s Food Centre to achieve optimal viscosity and resistance to crystallization, it will be of particular interest to plant bakers, large craft bakers and confectionery manufacturers. For ease of delivery it is available in heated 1 tonne pallecons and 25kg pails.
This new addition complements British Sugar’s well-established, traditional Golden Syrup and further strengthens British Sugar’s syrup range.
Note to editors:
- The Liquid Sugar range comprises, Golden Syrup, Classic Golden Syrup, Bakers Syrup and Black Treacle.
- British Sugar is the leading supplier of sugar to the UK. It produces around 1.1 million tonnes a year from sugar beet, in four factories.
